The winter season can be challenging to stay active, with cold weather, slippery conditions and fewer daylight hours. However, staying physically active is essential to improve mental and physical health for everyone. Additionally, the research suggests that staying active during cold temperatures enhances mood & helps in reducing stress and anxiety. Many experts recommend adults should get at least 180 minutes/per week of moderate-intensity of physical activity. This includes activities count, such as walking, running,  jogging or going to the gym. Here are some of the tips to stay physically active during the winter season.

  • Sign up for Classes at your Local Community Center

    One of the best ways to get the most out of winter is by enjoying it. You can sign up for a wide variety of classes - from Zumba and hockey to swimming and ice-staking. If you are interested in taking those classes in the local community center, then you can sign up for them early as they usually have limited. Almost every neighbourhood has its own community center, where you can sign up for those activities and get rid of winter blues.

  • Use Daylight Hours
    It's best to be active outdoors while it has some light between 9 AM to 4 PM. If you are someone who has a full-time job, you can go out maybe for a coffee break or take small walks around the workplace if the weather is tolerable. This may cheer your mood and you will find ourself more productive. 

  • Find a Fun Indoor or Outdoor Sports

    It is vital that you play and explore new activities and games such as ice skating, skiing, and snowboarding.  If you are someone, who does not enjoy outdoor sports, then you can find some an indoor swimming pool.
